Renson, pioneers in indoor climate solutions

Renson is a family-owned company that has been setting trends for a healthy indoor climate and comfortable outdoor life worldwide for more than 115 years. With a clear focus on durable quality, far-reaching personalization, and ease of use and maintenance, it provides high-quality solutions for today and tomorrow.

Eight years ago, they came to us with a clear idea: build a smart installer app for their Healthbox 3.0 ventilation line. They needed a technical partner to bring their idea to life. Today, that relationship has evolved into a strategic partnership, continuously expanding digital capabilities across new product lines like Flux+ and driving long-term product innovation.

The challenge

Simplifying the installation process

On busy construction sites, installers face a range of practical challenges: complex manual configurations, unpredictable delays and hardware issues that can be difficult to troubleshoot without immediate access to support. For third-party technicians in particular, mastering intricate ventilation setups can mean a steep learning curve and extensive training. And when working in concrete basements or remote job sites, limited internet connectivity can turn even routine installations into frustrating bottlenecks.

For Renson, these challenges also presented a business risk. Incorrect third-party installations can lead to warranty claims, costly call-outs and inconsistent product performance. The challenge was therefore not simply to give installers another tool, but a solution capable of capturing Renson’s institutional knowledge and distributing proven procedures to third-party partners in real time, ensuring high-quality installations regardless of technician experience. By solving the practical problems installers face in the field, Renson could encourage adoption while gaining greater visibility into installations, valuable field data and better control over installation quality at scale.

The solution

All-in-one installation support

To address these challenges, Renson needed what we call an ‘expert system’, a digital tool designed to capture, organize and distribute best practices, proven procedures and institutional knowledge to all installers in real time. A solution that simplifies the installation process for technicians while embedding quality control into every step by connecting the installer, the ventilation device and Renson’s online platform in one integrated workflow.

Key capabilities include:

  • Guided installation: Connect, configure and calibrate the ventilation device directly through the app, using APIs to communicate with the device firmware.
  • Offline connectivity: Continue working on site without an internet connection, with local communication handling the installation and cloud-based calls used when connectivity is available.
  • Installer verification: Check the installer’s identity and certification through the Renson platform before the ventilation device can be installed and approved.
  • Automated reporting: Automatically send measurement reports and installation data to the Renson portal, creating a digital record of completed installations.
  • Project management: Keep track of projects and installations in one place, without switching between different tools.
  • Built-in troubleshooting: Provide device-specific guidance and support to help installers resolve common issues directly on site.

Together, these capabilities give installers a simpler way to get the job done while giving Renson the visibility and control needed to monitor installation quality and manage the costs associated with third-party work.

The results/future steps

Empowering for installers, long-term growth for Renson

Renson’s expert system has become a valuable part of its installation ecosystem, with benefits extending from day-to-day efficiency to long-term product and installation insights:

  • Faster configuration: Ventilation systems can now be configured in roughly half the time.
  • Remote diagnostics: Many issues can be identified and diagnosed remotely, reducing the need for or time spent on on-site support.
  • Stable support demand: The number of support calls has remained stable, despite a significant increase in the digitalisation and complexity of Renson’s product portfolio. Without the app, this evolution could have resulted in a substantial increase in support demand.
  • Continued adoption: Renson continues to meet its monthly targets for newly certified installers using the app, supporting the ongoing expansion of its installer network.
  • Growing field data: Each installation adds to the available product and installation data, providing an increasingly useful source of insights.

Over time, this collaboration between Renson and Verhaert Digital has also evolved, too. On the one hand, we have built a deep understanding of Renson’s products, installers and broader ecosystem. And on the other hand, Renson has been empowered to bring more digital development in-house thanks to an ongoing learning curve, IP sharing and structured knowledge transfer. This allows us to contribute not only as a development partner but also as a strategic sparring partner, helping drive ideas and recommendations as new opportunities and challenges arise and supporting Renson’s long-term digital growth.

As the product portfolio and needs of installers continue to evolve, the app can evolve with them, supporting a more connected approach to installation, service and product improvement.

“WBy using the app, a system can be configured twice as fast and issues can be diagnosed remotely,”
